Francis Douglas Memorial College Gymnasium and Assembly Hall

Francis Douglas Memorial College needed a building that could carry sport, assemblies and community events in one space. The purpose built gymnasium and assembly hall in New Plymouth is a large scale multi use facility designed around durability, acoustic performance and flexibility.

The two level building holds a full sports court with retractable tiered seating, a weights room and supporting amenities. Retractable seating is what allows a single space to work for a game one day and a whole school assembly the next.

The building sits at the centre of college life and strengthens the connection across the college community. It was completed in 2026.
