Ruakākā Recreation Centre

Ruakākā needed a place where locals could come together for fitness and community activity, delivered within a fixed budget. The result is a purpose built recreation centre of 900 square metres.

The building is arranged for flexibility and flow. Separate male and female gym facilities sit alongside a large central space for meetings, gatherings and events. Smaller breakout rooms support community meet ups and activities, with a kitchen and storage facilities completing the layout.

The fixed budget shaped the approach throughout. The centre serves a range of uses in a single building rather than specialising, which is what a community of this size needs from one facility.
