South Pacific Meats needed new amenities and administration facilities alongside a working meat processing plant. The project came through a closed tender with selected main contractors, won on the combination of price and proposed solution.
Work was divided into three zones with fixed changeover dates, covering a new cafeteria and female changing room, new administration space, and the existing amenities. Construction started on the 480 square metre cafeteria and 336 square metre office slabs, with the smaller existing cafeteria partially demolished to allow the tie in. Structural steel followed at the cafeteria end to keep momentum through to roofing, cladding and window trades. The first stage was resourced to accelerate the changeover, cutting the time the client spent in temporary accommodation.
Additional scope was absorbed into the contract, including entry canopies, replacement mechanical and hydraulic feed services and an ammonia alarm upgrade. The central office carries bespoke joinery and tiled surfaces, with nine individual offices, a boardroom, staff kitchen and bathrooms. It was completed in 2023.
